Beats

One beat, one artist.

Beats written for rap, made for an artist rather than for a catalogue. An exclusive assignment is simple: upon full payment the composition is withdrawn from sale and will no longer be offered to any third party, and you exploit the record wherever you want, with no time limit.

Exclusive assignment, WAV file

The price covers the assignment of the beat, not the copyright. As a SACEM-affiliated composer I remain credited on the work: the composition share is 50% (split between all composers where there are several), the remaining 50% going to the authors of the lyrics. In practice you record, release and monetise your song freely — SACEM then splits the performance royalties between us on that basis.

For you if

You want to write over a beat that will not resurface under someone else's name in six months.

The exclusive assignment

What you are buying, in plain terms. The full detail is in the Terms, Article 12.

What you get

  • The phonogram producer's rights in the master of the composition, worldwide and for the legal term of protection, on all media and by all processes.
  • The authorisation to incorporate the composition into your record and to adapt it: adding vocals, lyrics, arrangements, cuts, editing, remix.
  • The beat withdrawn from sale upon full payment. It leaves the catalogue and is no longer offered to any third party.

What you don't get

  • Being a performer gives rise to no author's share: if you neither write the lyrics nor compose, you fall under neighbouring rights and do not appear in that split.
  • The authorisations for mechanical reproduction and for synchronisation with images. As a SACEM member I have assigned those rights to it: they fall to SACEM and SDRM, not to me.

What you must do

  • Register the work with SACEM naming me as composer, before any commercial exploitation, and sign the corresponding registration form.
  • Not resell, assign or sub-license the composition in its raw state, that is, without having added your own creative contribution: vocals, lyrics, arrangement.
  • Not declare the composition as your own sole composition.
